Then he broke them into pieces except the biggest one among them, so that they might return to him.
“So that they might return to him” means the people should turn into the biggest of the idols to ask about what happened. Normally idols are denoted in the feminine gender. Here it is denoted in the masculine gender. From that, it is understood that the biggest idol was of a male.
Today Fujjar are reading these verses. But by hiding and rejecting Adhikr, they have become the worst creatures as explained in verse 8: 22. They falsely claim that they are Muslims who will inherit Paradise; but as their concept about Lord is evil, they will have evil consequences, Lord’s wrath and curse have happened upon them and Hell is kept prepared for them as the abode as told in verse 48: 6.
